If there’s one thing we can guarantee at Shropshire Kids Festival – it’s fun!

We are creating fun, fun and more fun and maybe inspire you to try a new sport, see if you are a budding thespian, maybe a music artist of the future perhaps.. or perhaps you will be inspired to be the next Stephen Hawking or are you a budding Bear Grylls?

There is just too much FUN!

And it isn’t just any old fun. We’re gearing ourselves up for super-extra-massive bonkers fun. Our battalion of inflatables will be back this year giving children plenty of opportunities to bounce around. While participation is strictly children only (sorry adults), we’re sure these bouncy bundles of fun will have everyone in the family laughing their socks off.  There will be a special under 5’s area with pint sized inflatable’s for little ones to enjoy, but for older children we’ve really ramped up the fun factor!

OK, so, how about spending your weekend sliding down a massive inflatable helter-skelter? Don’t get too dizzy though or you’ll miss out on the disco dome – it’s a partyyyyy! Giant games, mini golf, Go Karts, Bubble Football and the sports day style Harry Games will bring out kids competitive sides.

140ft of FREE zipwire fun, can be enjoyed thanks to Rybrook Shrewsbury BMW, where you will have the opportunity to fly the length of 10 cars at high speeds - hold on tight!

The monster obstacle course at the lower end of the site proved to be a huge success last year so we have added another one too to double the fun!  Cheer your children on as they make their way through tunnels, over giant air filled ramps and much more.

More free activties include Wipe Out and Zorbing.  If you’ve ever fancied a go a zorbing then now is the perfect opportunity.  Zorb balls will be rolling around throughout the festival weekend. Can your kids stay on the giant circular Wipe-Out challenge? Can they leap and avoid the spinning beam? Come along and see!

If that wasn’t enough the foam parties are definitely the place to be, split into two areas for the big and small kids!  Hours of good clean fun is ready and waiting, but don’t worry mum and dad there will be changing areas, so no one has to go home covered in foam, unless they want to of course – bring a towel to enjoy this FREE activity!

TWO water slides… yes two…. 50m and 25m slides run by Nick Jones Wealth Management to allow big and little kids to enjoy the slippery fun with a donation to the Harry Johnson Trust, raising money for this amazing charity.

Artists Sam Pooley-Stride and Olivia Gregory head up a team of young creatives offering workshops and entertainment for all ages. The Creative Tents will be running an artistic romp through-out the entire festival. They’ll be sculpting, painting, illustration, colouring, drawing, collage, making, breaking, photography, design, performance, puppetry and print making. All the work will be inspired by contemporary artists and designers from Hockney and Jeff Koons to Tracy Emin and Alexander Girard. Expect to make lots of things to take away and enjoy making instillations and collaborating with other budding creatives.

Food is a great way for kids to be creative and we are delighted to be joined by Katie’s Kids Kitchen. Fun with Baking sessions for children 4+ years will be running three times a day. Parents can leave their children for one hour to have fun in Katie’s kitchen (whilst Parents can recover in the Adult Crèche). Please book in on the day at £5 per session or in advance online at                              www.shropshirekidsfestival.co.uk.

Get involved and help us smash a world record with the longest chain of hearts with Bugglepuffs! Can you help us make the world’s longest chain of hearts?  Come along to the Creative tent and draw your ‘dream bedroom’ inspired by the Bugglepuff book series.  We would love to make Shropshire Kids Festival a World Record Breaking Festival and to do this we need your help. There will be a donation bucket for every drawing for the Harry Johnson Trust.

The Heart of England Ferret Association are raising awareness of their energetic little bundles of curiosity and you can participate in some racing activities throughout the day at their stand. Handle with Care… We are working with Parkhall Countryside Experience who will be educating us about caring for our furry friends with animal handling sessions. They will also be bringing along some of their ride on tractors for you to enjoy! Come and meet the amazing Parkhall team and enter your details to be in for a chance of winning a Family Ticket to the Multi-Award Winning Farm Park!.

Then sample some cinema with shows bought to you by The Hive, Shrewsbury’s Buzziest creative Hub. If street stylin’ is more up your alley, then tag your style with Hire a Graffiti Artist, and weald your spray can Banksy style and create a funky t shirt. Rybrook Shrewsbury BMW are creating a unique opportunity for all the kids at the festival… A car has come back from the factory and it needs a touch of colour! Can you help the team at Rybrook Shrewsbury BMW colour in a WHOLE car? This is a special request for all our visitors and cannot be repeated at home!

For kids who really love nature and the outdoors, we have more great activities with Shrewsbury High Prep School .  We also have Shropshire Wildlife Trust doing a nature trail from their headquarters in Shrewsbury.  There will also be a bug hunt around the festival with The Nature Bug so make sure you grab a trail sheet from her stall. They’re all great ways to sow the seeds of a life long passion with the outdoors.

More Than A Story …..

Come along and experience active storytelling to inspire your child’s imagination.  By involving the children in the creative process of the full story, the words and sounds come to life through improvisation, which entertains and educates as the tale unfolds.

Talented Illustrators and Authors Vicky Edwards from Following the Fox’s Tail and Emma Lawrence from Little Nature Explorers Series are running author workshops so get involved and find your illustration inspiration from these amazing authors.

Fly away on a fictional fairy tale and ignite your passion for books in the Usborne pop-up book shop where you could win up to £50 of books whilst helping to fundraise for schools and educational settings.

Author Emma Lawrence will be running ‘Little Nature Explorers Trail’, grab the details from the Book tent and take the trail on!

We have a number of organisations joining us around the festival that didn’t really fit a particular zone, but make sure you pop by their stands during the festival to learn more about what they do in our area.  They include West Midlands Police and Autism West Midlands, Empathy and hopefully there will be the odd big engine for the kids to enjoy.

Here’s a few more attractions that you won’t want to miss.

Give your children a taste of a bygone seaside holiday, with Donkey Rides from Stonehill Donkeys, £2 per ride. If ponies are more your thing then we have Shropshire Pony Parties who’ll do some practical skills and grooming sessions with the kids (get signed up for a session when you arrive) Pony rides also available at £2 per ride.

Learn a new language together with Bright Owls. You’ll be amazed that you can learn and sing a song in Spanish in such a short amount of time; great fun for all the family.

We’re going really wild with the Dudley Zoo tent. Learn about and get close to the animals that live at the zoo and see how you can help educate and raise awareness of the animal kingdom.

Shropshire Astronomical Society will be on hand for budding astonauts to look at solar activity and inspire the next Tim Peake.

Stepping back in time you can have a go at junior jousting and dress up with Ludlow Castle.

Creative types will enjoy making jewellery Toodle & Pip at their stand, for £3 for beaded stretch bracelets.

Panic Family Circus will be running Punch & Judy shows, and all weekend you can hula hoop and discover whether you’re have hidden talents a juggler, stilt walker or unicycle rider all for free!
